Having suffered a major loss eight years ago she holds a lot of vulnerability inside. Not only owning, but running a bar in NYC her only other focus is her daughter Emma.
Everything that comes out of her daughter's mouth is priceless, at times a little too sassy. But, hey! Kids are sassy these days, mine is, so it made her character seem very real. The banter between her and her best friend, Rachel is full of hilarity and though bawdy at times, it's relatable.
She's just cruising through live, working, taking care of Emma and laughing it up with Rachel until Nathan walks in and saves her like the knight in shining armor he is.
Nathan is sweet, full of emotion and an all around good guy... but he has his little secret which eventually comes to light faster than he would have liked. I did have an issue with the details surrounding his secret but it did not deter me from this story.
Everything seems to be going in the right direction until Jordie and Nathan realize that there is a stalker lurking in the backgrounds. Once that tidbit comes to light... BOOM, BAM, POW we are hit with the unexpected and a million questions run wild in our minds.
This is a fast paced novel where the connection between the h/H happens from the very first interaction. It's quick, insta love at it's best and the way that H.J. Harley delivers their instant chemistry makes you believe in a love like theirs.

I just finished this book a few minutes ago and I'm still reeling from it. I went through so many emotions reading it and that is why I love this book so much. There is nothing better than a story that can run me through the gamut of emotions. Make me laugh, cry, feel fear, want to throw up, get angry enough to want to throw my kindle--that means the author has drawn me in so much I'm experiencing what her characters are. The characters in this book were so well written, I felt like I knew them. I wanted to be friends with Jordie and Rachel. Their sassy commentary had me laughing out loud. And who wouldn't want someone like Nathan to fall in love with? Seriously, he's just about every woman's dream. There is so much I want to write about this book, but can't because it would spoil the experience for those who haven't read it. You need to read it. You'll love the supporting characters as much as the main characters. Frank was my favorite. He pulled on my heart strings more time than I can count. You just need to read this book to understand what I mean. So much more than a five star read!
Jordie thought she was satisfied with her life. Though she was widowed, and is raising her nine year old daughter on her own, she is independent. She owns a bar which she bar-tends at with her best friend Rachel, and she owns the 2 story building she lives in. Rachel thinks she is closing herself off to the world, with the exception of her daughter and her sister. Jordie knows Rachel means well, but is doing just fine with how things are. Until one night, she meets Nathan Harper. There's something about his eyes and smile that draws her to him. Nathan also feels the connection, but is hesitant to trust anyone because of his movie star career. He soon learns that Jordie is different. As their relationship is now under a microscope of paparazzi photographers, Jordie and Nathan try to keep their relationship as normal as possible for the sake of Jordie's daughter, Emma. When Jordie starts to get phone calls that seem creepy, she doesn't think too much of it until they get more frequent. Together Nathan and some security try to keep Jordie and Emma safe. Who is after Jordie? Is it someone from Nathan's past, jealous of Jordie? Or is it someone from Jordie's past, that she thought was long gone? Can Nathan protect the woman he loves? Will Jordie finally get the happy ever after she deserves? I enjoyed reading Jordie and Nathan's story and look forward to reading more from HJ Harley.
